Georges Badin, Fields of mimosa

Look carefully because what you are about to see is not what you have just seen.

Painting is a poetry that is seen instead of felt and poetry is a painting that is felt instead of seen. The sun never sees the shadow.

The nobility of a thing is its eternity.

Leonardo da Vinci, 1452-1519

I saw an angel in the marble and only chiseled it free.

Love is the wing that God gave to man to climb up to him.

Michel-Ange, 1475-1564

The novelty is in the mind that creates, not in the nature that is painted.

Eugène Delacroix, 1798-1863

It took me a long time to understand my water lilies… I cultivated them without thinking of painting them… A landscape does not become part of you in one day… And then, all of a sudden, I had the revelation of the enchantment of my pond. I took my palette. Since then, I have hardly had any other model.

You have to catch the light and throw it directly onto the canvas.

Claude Monet, 1840-1926
